PRICE AND MICHELIN MASTER THE 2022 SCOTT TRIAL

PRICE AND MICHELIN MASTER THE SCOTT TRIAL

Having taken his first win in 2021 it was a very proud and elated Jack Price riding the Spanish Vertigo who once again held the Alfred A Scott memorial trophy in 2022 as he took a second much sought-after win in this ultimate test of man and machine. He again gave Michelin tyres yet another proud moment when he took the top spot on the podium at the Scott Time and Observation Trial at the weekend. Organized by the Richmond Motor Club, the Scott Trial has a strong sporting heritage covering over 100 years and is unique in the fact that time and observation are calculated together to find the overall winner.

James Dabill (Beta)

The event is based at Reeth, high on the North Yorkshire moors above the old market town of Richmond. The weather was ideally suited for the riders with the cold but sunny day only spoiled by the occasional light rain showers as they tackled the single lap course covering 76 hazards over 80 miles. Competing on Michelin tyres Jonathan Richardson (TRRS), in ninth position, set the fastest time of 5.00.18, and the overall winner Jack Price was the best on observation losing a mere 21 marks proving vital in the final calculation of the time and observation.

Billy Green (Scorpa)

The top three finishers Jack Price, James Dabill and Billy Green all chose to compete on Michelin trials tyres to secure their positions on the podium as did Sherco who won the manufactures trophy with Michael Brown, brothers Jack and Dan Peace in the three-man team. Indeed over 80% of the entry of 200 starters chose Michelin for the action, a testament to the quality of these superior tyres in the sport of motorcycle trials and the toughest of them all, the Scott Trial.

Jack Price: “I have 100% absolutely enjoyed my day out on the Yorkshire Moors at the ultimate test of man and machine, the Scott Trial. As the weather played ball with only a few very light showers I was able to put my game plan into play of concentrating on my observation score whilst also keeping an eye on the time. I felt good from the very start and soon settled into a rhythm I was happy with, and the confidence came as I started to clean the sections. I had a very trouble-free day as the Vertigo never missed a beat and I rode at  pace I was comfortable with. As always, my Michelin tyres were at there very best with no punctures despite the nature of the rugged and demanding terrain. In the sections when I was fighting to keep my feet-up they performed beyond what I expected with superb feedback. A huge thank you everyone who makes this amazing day happen and to my super support crew”
